Qualified OSDP readers

Pick a reader family in this list and the AC1 onboarding wizard runs end-to-end without extra steps. Older or unlisted readers will still work — they just need a manual V+ power-cycle mid-install to apply the new bus address.

Recommended — COMSET applies inline

These OSDP 2.x reader families apply a new bus address immediately when the controller sends a COMSET. The dealer install flow runs end-to-end as a single wizard with no power-cycle prompts.

Family / model OSDP version Wiegand formats Tested in our lab Notes
WaveLynx Ethos 2.2 26-bit, 34-bit, 40-bit — Vendor-confirmed inline.
HID Signo 2.2 26-bit, 34-bit, 40-bit — Vendor-confirmed inline.
Farpointe Ranger 2.2 26-bit, 34-bit — Vendor-confirmed inline.
Allegion Schlage (current firmware) 2.2 26-bit, 34-bit — Older Schlage firmware is in the next table.

Supported with caveats

These reader families work on the AC1 but COMSET behavior depends on the specific firmware running on the unit. The install wizard surfaces a "disconnect V+ for 2 seconds" step automatically — modern units skip past it, older ones actually need the cycle. Budget a few extra minutes per door.

Identiv uTrust 4500F 2.x 26-bit Yes — 2026-05-30 Inline COMSET worked once on our dev unit; subsequent COMSETs needed the V+ cycle. Plan for the cycle step.
HID iCLASS (older firmware) 2.0 / pre-2.x 26-bit — V+ power-cycle required per door. Allow ~30 seconds per reader during install.
Honeywell / HHP family (OUI 00:06:8E) 2.x 26-bit Yes — 2026-05-30 Card-placement sweet spot is narrower than other families; coach end users on where to tap.

Why some readers need a power-cycle

OSDP COMSET tells a reader its new RS-485 bus address. On modern 2.x reader firmware the address change takes effect on the next POLL — no install delay. On older iCLASS and pre-2.x hardware the new address is buffered until the next cold boot, so the only way to verify the change in-flow is to interrupt V+ for a couple of seconds. Software-controlled reader power isn't an industry norm (Mercury, HID, PDK, Brivo, and ICT all leave the cycle to the installer for UL and failure-surface reasons), so the wizard prompts for it and waits.

Adding a reader to this list

Bench-verifying a reader takes a few hours: COMSET round-trip, Wiegand format check, RS-485 termination + power-rail review, and a back-to-back swipe stress test. If you'd like a specific family added, contact our dealer team with the make, model, and firmware version.
